birdcage 33 | boutique hotel
Designed initially as a summer house of the couple, the hotel spaces are all thought as small houses spread at the hills of Yalıkavak. We were contacted by our long time clients to transform the interiors of the small houses into functional hotel spaces with a Mediterranean flair.
All 12 independent rooms are designed with similar principles and materials but each have a special element of its own. The general material and colour palette are soft, calming hues that give a sense of harmony and belonging. We worked with local suppliers, sustainable materials, designed and produced most of the furniture on our own. The use of the special natural tadelakt plaster in almost all spaces of the boutique hotel is intended to reinforce the feeling of being in nature, whereas the bright colours of the details, give a reference to the vibrant 60ies life in Bodrum. Not being right on the seaside but higher on the hills, the focus of the common areas have been the pool life, for which we were highly inspired by the pool life series of American photographer Slim Aarons. Having opened in June 2022 the hotel is already on many lists of ‘best boutique hotels’ and received great interest by both local and international clientele.
