country house
The old stone house built with masonry construction technique (date of construction not known) was reinforced with steel beams and carbon fiber stripes to make it durable to the earthquakes which often occur at that area. The ground floor which was used as a cellar, was dug to achieve high ceilings and a connection to the garden was obtained.
In this way the total sqm of the house were doubled. All windows and doors were redesigned and produced according to the very first original ones that were damaged in years and replaced by temporary solutions by the previous owner. All parts remaining from the original construction such as wood ceilings, terracotta roof tiles ,wood cabinets and stone oven were left and the new additions were constructed in respect to its history and first version of the housing. The total usable area of the house was raised from 80sqm to 150sqm after the works done in the basement floor.
