cukurcuma house
Located in one of the most historical and beautiful streets of central Istanbul, the house was in a neglected state when the owner bought it and asked us for renovations. We wanted to keep the traces of history hidden in the house; such as a pre-existing fireplace that was later demolished, and interprete them in a contemporary way.
The whole entrance, corridor, kitchen, guest wc and main bathroom areas were redesigned according to the needs of the owner. The library in the dining area and at the entrance of the house were designed and constructed by us as a showcase for the owner’s precious collection of art works/ objects/ books. The living/working/dining area was designed to allow maximum flexibility for the changing lifestyle needs and allow various furniture arrangements. We used a variety of materials such as microcement (entrance, kitchen and wc floors), travertine (main bathtub and washbasin), rippled back painted glass, plaster, granite, wood, marble, linen, concrete.
